If you’re like most people, you probably don’t think about rubbish removal until the time comes when you need it. And then, it can be a hassle to find a reputable and reliable skip bin service that fits your budget.
Thankfully, 4 Waste Removals is here to help make the process easier for you. We offer competitive rates and a wide range of rubbish removal services, including skip bins, so you can get the exact level of service you need. Plus, we’re fully licensed and insured, so you can rest assured that your property is in good hands.
To help you get the most out of our skip bin services, here are a few tips:
1. Understand the different types of skip bins available
Before you jump online and book the first skip bin you see on Google, it helps to understand the different types of skip bins available. There are different skip bins available depending on the type of rubbish you need to remove. For example, if you’re removing general household waste such as furniture or white goods, a mini skip bin is likely to be sufficient. However, if you’re removing construction waste, you’ll want to hire a large and robust skip bin that accepts this type of rubbish.
2. Know what you can and can’t put in a skip bin
Speaking of skip bins that accept a specific type of rubbish, the second tip is to know what you can and can’t put in a skip bin. While it might be tempting to throw everything in one skip, this isn’t always possible (and may lead to your rubbish not being collected). Some items, such as asbestos, liquids and certain chemicals, cannot be disposed of in skip bins. And more importantly, each skip bin provider will accept different waste types and prohibit different items. For example, here at 4 Waste Removals, we only accept some household waste in our junk skip bins, and 100% green waste in our garden skip bins. Items such as mattresses, carpets, mirrors and glass, paint, pavers etc., are not permitted in our skip bins. So, it’s essential to check with your chosen provider before you book.
If you’re unsure about what you can and can’t put in a skip bin, our team at 4 Waste Removals are more than happy to help. Just give us a call and ask. Alternatively, you can find a list of permitted and not permitted items on our Terms & Conditions page.

3. Schedule your service in advance
Once you’ve decided on the type of skip bin you need and what rubbish you’ll be disposing of, it’s always a good idea to schedule your service in advance. This way, you can be sure that we’ll have a skip bin available when you need it. And if you’re planning a big clean-up or renovation project, scheduling your service in advance gives you one less thing to worry about.
We recommend scheduling your skip bin delivery at least three to four days in advance, but if you need it sooner, we may be able to accommodate your request. Just give us a call, and we’ll do our best to deliver a skip bin on your desired date.
4. Choose the right size for your needs
One of the most significant issues customers have with skip bins is choosing the right size for their needs. And while it’s easy to overestimate the amount of rubbish you’ll have, it’s also essential to avoid hiring a skip bin that’s too small. After all, you don’t want to end up with a pile of rubbish next to your skip!
Here at 4 Waste Removals, we do things differently than other skip bin companies in Brisbane, Logan, and Redland Bay. Rather than having skip bins of various sizes, we have just two skip sizes; 6m3 and 8m3 skips. This doesn’t mean you can only hire these sizes! Instead, you hire any size you like, whether it’s 2m3 or any size up to 20m3.
We will deliver one of our skips with clearly marked fill levels at every cubic metre. So, if you order a 5m3 skip bin, you can fill the skip to the 5m3 fill level. The beauty of this billing method is: if you hire a skip bin that isn’t large enough for the waste you have to remove, you can simply keep filling the skip, and you’ll only be charged the difference. So you if hire a 5m3 skip and fill it to 7m3, we’ll just charge you for the extra 2m3 on top of your original hire.
This is much cheaper than having a hire a second 2m3 skip bin! Plus, you may estimate wrong again and need a 3m3 or only need a 1m3 skip. With our way, you get it right every time and only pay for the amount you have to remove!
5. Have the skip bin placed in an accessible location
When you’re ready to schedule your skip bin service, it’s also important to consider the location of your skip bin. For example, will the skip need to be placed on the street? Or can it be placed on your property? These are important questions to ask, as they will affect both the price of your service and whether or not you need a council permit.
Skip bins placed on the street may require a council permit, which can take up to three days to process. If you need a skip bin delivered urgently, we recommend placing it on your property instead. This will avoid any delays and ensure that your skip bin is delivered on time.
Don’t forget, if you choose our skip bin service, you will likely be able to have our skip bins placed much closer to your property because our skip bins and delivery trucks are much smaller than that of traditional skip bin services.
6. Make sure to have everything ready before the skip bin arrives
Once you’ve scheduled your skip bin service and chosen the perfect location for your bin, it’s important to make sure that everything is ready before the skip arrives. This includes clearing a path to the location of the skip and making sure there are no vehicles parked in the way.
Our skip bin delivery driver will need at least two metres of clearance to place the skip, so please make sure the area is clear before we arrive. If any vehicles are in the way, our driver will be unable to deliver the skip exactly where you would like.
7. Use the skip bin wisely
Now that you’ve scheduled your skip bin service and have everything ready for delivery, it’s important to use the skip wisely. This means filling the skip from back to front and evenly across the entire surface. It’s also important not to overfill the skip, as this can make it difficult for our driver to collect.
